Here are a few of my favorite news and views sources from the World Wide Web. (Naturally, there are a few literary sites mixed in.) What's your favorite site? Let me know and I'll try to add it later.

Korean Sites

  • Arirang
    • Arirang: Korea for the World, the World for Korea. Free membership. Streaming television and radio, news VOD (Video On Demand).
  • Chosun Ilbo
    • The Chosun Ilbo, digital edition, English version. The most-read newspaper in Korea.
  • Korea Herald
    • The Korea Herald daily newspaper (digital edition) is available free, but the searchable archives require membership.
  • Korea Times
    • The Korea Times daily paper (digital edition) is available free, along with searchable archives.
  • OhMyNews International
    • The English-language version of OhMyNews, Korea's influential forum for citizen journalism, boasts more than 50,000 reporters in 100 countries. OhMyNews International podcasts provide a unique opportunity to listen to a range of accents and speaking styles from around the world.

International Sites

  • Bartleby.com
    • The preeminent Internet publisher of literature, reference and verse providing students, researchers and the intellectually curious with unlimited access to books and information on the web, free of charge.
  • Bartleby's Quotations
    • Bartleby.com combines the best of both contemporary and classic quotations collections into a searchable database of over 87,000 entries, the largest of its kind ever compiled.
  • BBC Home
    • News, sports, television, radio, and much, much more, brought to you by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

  • CBC Home
    • Canada’s news, business, sports, health and science, arts, and kids’ information source: live radio (many stations across Canada), streaming video. Extensive archives of audio and video clips are available for download.

  • CNN and CNN International
    • Breaking news, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment and Video News. Choose “International Edition” for a wider range of print and video stories.

  • Newseum: Today's Front Pages
    • Today's front pages from around the world, presented by Newseum, the interactive museum of news. Click on the word "Newseum" to see their home page and a range of other interesting online exhibits.
  • Refdesk
    • Refdesk is a free and family-friendly web site that indexes and reviews quality, credible, and current web-based resources. From acronyms to zip codes, it’s all there. Great for browsing.
